Boys’ Lacrosse ConVal defense dominates Stevens

ConVal traveled to meet the Stevens Cardinals for the Cougars’ 2017 season opener. The Cougars’ defensive focus this season was apparent as they held Stevens scoreless until midway into the fourth quarter. The defense led by junior goalie Pat Laroche, senior Garret Boyce, and sophomores Zack Obuchowski, and Andrew Stockwell controlled the game limiting Stevens to only threequality chances through three quarters.

Defensive midfielders CJ Caron, Daniel Spezzaferri, and Dylan Rochford frustrated the Stevens offense creating turnovers that fueled ConVal’s offense.

ConVal’s offense was balanced with scoring led by senior Daniel Parker (3 goals), juniors Hunter Gullage (3 goals), Jake Phillips (2 goals, 1 assist), and Scott Stanley (2 goals, 2 assists). Jimmy Stewart, Daniel Spezzaferri, Mike Perry, and Liam Denehy also scored for the Cougars.

Sam West was awarded the ConVal Crosse for his smothering defense.

ConVal (1-0) hosts Hopkinton (2-0) Thursday at 4 p.m.
