Stan Fry will tell you that his art collection is heavily influenced by one man — Peter Pelletier, whose downtown art gallery was a staple in Peterborough in the 1990s.

“Peter had an interest in early 20thcentury art and that helped educate me and created that same interest,” Fry said.

After Pelletier’s death, Fry even ran the Grove Street store for a time. Now, he’s opening his own downtown gallery, just feet from where Pelletier’s store once stood.

“I hope that it brings back fond memories for others that Peter influenced,” Fry said.

Fry’s extensive collection of 19th- and 20th American impressionist paintings, once relegated to his Pine Street home, or storage, will be on display and for sale starting at the grand opening this Saturday, from 6 to 8 p.m.

“Working at the property, I loved when we had guests, because I loved being able to show people the art, and they were always in awe,” said curator Mindy Taylor, who’s been working with Fry in the art world for the past six years. “I’m really grateful that we do have the space here where people can come in and view it, and buy it if they so choose.”

The first exhibit is “Gruppe: Art in the Family,” a collection from a family of four New England artists.
