A 27-year-old Jaffrey man was killed in motorcycle accident early this afternoon on Route 202 in Jaffrey, according to police.
Police responded to the scene at about 12:12 p.m. after a motorist called 911, but when they arrived, the man already was deceased, said Sgt. Craig A. Tucker of the Jaffrey Police Department in an interview at the scene.
The man was the sole rider on the motorcycle, and according to preliminary witness statements, it appears no other vehicles were involved said Tucker. The man was wearing his helmet. He was traveling South on 202, and crashed on the right side.
The accident is under investigation, said Tucker, and police have yet to determine a cause of the crash.
“We don’t know what happened, whether there was a mechanical issue or something else,” said Tucker. “And unfortunately, he’s not here to answer any questions.”
Police closed one lane of Route 202, also known as Peterborough Street, in the area of Howard Memorial Park, for several hours following the accident.
