Aileen M. (Kliskey) Couillard

Caring, gentle woman always put others first

PETERBOROUGH — Aileen M. (Kliskey) Couillard, 82, of Antrim died suddenly Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough.

Aileen, daughter of the late William and Aili (Koski) Kliskey, was born in Gardner, Mass. on Sept. 27, 1929 and lived in Connecticut most of her life but also resided several years in New York and Pennsylvania before moving to Antrim nearly fifteen years ago. She graduated from Gardner High School, class of 1947. Her husband, Robert F. Couillard, died in 2007.

Aileen will be lovingly remembered as a caring, gentle woman who always put others first. She took great joy in caring for her husband and her family and will be sadly missed. She stayed very active well into her golden years, walking several miles every day and participating in the Strong Living Exercise Program in Antrim. As a gardener, she was truly gifted and cultivated the most beautiful flower gardens. Aileen was also quite a wordsmith and enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband, Robert, with whom she owned and operated a travel agency in the early 1970s.

Aileen is survived by her children, James P. Couillard and his wife, Lynn, of Ansonia, Conn. and Katherine L. Coughlin of Hellertown, Penn., one brother, William Kliskey and his wife, Phylis, of Palm Harbor, Fla., two grandchildren, Kaitlyn Cibulas and Alexander Couillard and her sister-in-law, Inge-Lise Kliskey of Westford. She was predeceased by one brother, Ralph Kliskey of Westford who died in 1986.

Family and friends are planning to honor and celebrate Aileen’s life by gathering for a Memorial Service in the Community Chapel of Lamoureux Fletcher & Smith Funeral Home, 105 Central St., Gardner, Mass. on Monday at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner, Mass.
