PETERBOROUGH — Anthony “Tony” Babneau, 88, died June 2, 2010, at Monadnock Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Babneau was born in Peterborough on April 4, 1922, the son of Eva (Russell) and Harry Babneau. He remained a lifelong resident in the area.
Tony served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was employed as a carpenter with Roland Construction Hancock Homes until his retirement in 1989. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family as well as hunting and fishing.
Tony was married to Edna Muncil for 33 years until her death in 1999.
He is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Lawrence and her husband, Paul, of Cape Coral, Fla., and two grandsons; Thomas Naylor and Christopher Lawrence, both of Cape Coral.
He will also be missed by several extended family members including many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Darrell, who died in 1958.
A funeral service will be held at Jellison Funeral Home today at 2 p.m. Burial, with military honors, will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Dublin.
