NEW IPSWICH — Betty Ann Chouinard, 72, of Old Tenney Road died Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a period of failing health.

She was born Nov. 16, 1937, in Peterborough, daughter of the late Everett W. and Sylvia (Hautanen) Johnson. Betty was a 1955 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey. She had been a lifelong resident of Jaffrey until moving to New Ipswich two years ago.

Betty worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Company; also as a sales representative at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough for more than 20 years; and retired from Millipore Corp. in 2000 following 10 years of employment.

She loved to travel and with her husband Lester had traveled twice to every state in the “Lower Forty Eight.” She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cooking, refinishing furniture and computer games.

For 19 years Betty was married to Warren “Ozzie” Chouinard, who died March 29, 1990.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Lester W. Parker of New Ipswich; four daughters, Brenda Jean Belliveau of Sandown, Debra Jean Shelley of Jaffrey, Pamela Jean Desmarais of Richardsville,Va., Rebecca Jean Sawtelle of Rindge; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her brother, Everett W. ( Butch) Johnson Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; two nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her great-granddaughter Jayden Shelley.
Per her request, there will be no calling hours.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at 2 p.m. in the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River St. (Route 202 South), Jaffrey. The Rev. Elizabeth A. Davis, classmate and pastor of the Peterborough Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will follow in the family lot in Conant Cemetery, Stratton Road, Jaffrey.
