PETERBOROUGH — Doris (Putnam) Watson, 87, died on July 12, 2010, at Woodland Heights in Peterborough.
Mrs. Watson was born in Post Mills, Vt., on July 19, 1922, the daughter of Harold B. Putnam and Goldia Picknell. She lived at Woodland Heights for the past 10 years, having moved from the Antrim and Swanzey areas. Before moving to New Hampshire, she lived in Texas for 20 years.
She worked as a weaver at a textile mill for several years before settling in to her life as part of a military family. She and her husband, George Watson, to whom she was married for more than 50 years, traveled extensively. They traveled and lived in several U.S. states, the Pacific Islands, and Japan. Mrs. Watson was very happy as a homemaker during this time and came to enjoy their mobile lifestyle.
She was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Peterborough.
Her husband, George Watson, died in 1992. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Rebecca Raymond, in 2003.
She is survived by her two sisters-in-law, Jackie Putnam and Faye Story, both of Texas. She also leaves her dear friends Iva Apple and Debbie Hanson of Peterborough.
A private memorial service will be held for friends and family at Woodland Heights on Thursday at 5 p.m. The Rev. Polly Shamy will preside. Burial will follow at a later date and will be private.
