Edna K. Smith

Peterborough resident at Guernsey 45 years

PETERBOROUGH -- Edna K. Smith, 95, died at Monadnock Community Hospital on Feb. 27, 2010.

Miss Smith was born in Wilton on Dec. 16, 1914, the daughter of Elizabeth (Brennan) and George Smith.

She moved to Peterborough when she was 5 years old and graduated from Peterborough High School in 1932.

She worked at the American Guernsey Cattle Club for 45 years, retiring in 1978 as secretary to the treasurer.

She was an accomplished seamstress who made her own clothes. She enjoyed photography, spending winters in Florida, reading and playing cards. She traveled extensively to Germany and other European countries. She was a member of the Ladies Guild at St. Peter's Church.
She is survived by two brothers, Harold Smith of Peterborough and Donald Smith of Ormond Beach, Fla.

Her sister, Mary Agnes Smith, died Feb. 9, 2010; two brothers, Edward Smith and John Smith are also deceased, as is her sister Rita Smith.

A calling hour will be held on Monday, March 1, from 6 to 7 a.m., at Jellison Funeral Home, 25 Concord St., Peterborough. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church of Divine Mercy Parish, Peterborough.

Burial will be in the spring in Mt. Cavalry Cemetery, Wilton.

Jellison Funeral Home, Peterborough, is assisting the family with arrangements
Gifts in her memory may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Peter's Church.
