Elizabeth (Betty) Boucher

Homemaker and seamstress was avid painter

PETERBOROUGH — Elizabeth (Betty) Boucher, 91, died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough from complications of old age.

She was born in Lynn, Mass. on Sept. 23, 1920, the third daughter of Dean and Lucia (Watson) Smalley.

She attended Lynn English High School, and was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1942.

During World War II, Betty worked as a draftsman at General Electric in Lynn, Mass.

She was a homemaker and seamstress, making drapes for Interior Designers in the Monadnock Region.

In her later years she became an avid painter, painting over 600 paintings, mostly landscapes and miniatures.

Survivors include her daughters, Marilyn Bean of Dublin and Barbara O’Connor of Danville, Calif., her sons, Roy Drew of Sandy, Utah and Dean Drew of Holladay, Utah, twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Roland R. “Bing” Boucher on Feb. 21, 2010.

There will be no calling hours or formal service at this time.

A private family service and burial in St. Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey, will take place at the convenience of the family.
