George Eisenbeis

PETERBOROUGH — George W. Eisenbeis, 88, died peacefully on May 15, 2010, surrounded by close friends at RiverMead.

George was born on Dec. 19, 1921, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Irene and Edwin A. Eisenbeis. He was the younger brother of the late Edwin Eisenbeis Jr.

George was a devoted and loving husband to his predeceased wife, Jean Eisenbeis. Their union of devotion and eternal love together spanned over 60 years.

He was predeceased by his best friend and fishing companion, his son “Bill” Eisenbeis.

George graduated Harvard in 1943 and was an Army war veteran. He served his country proudly in World War II.

He began his career in sales at the Kanthal Corporation and later started his own company, Eisenbeis Sales.

He was an avid gardener and well known for his rhododendrons. George and his wife shared a passion for traveling and together explored the world from Peru to New Zealand.

He is survived by his cherished daughter, Nancy Conkling, and Diane Eisenbeis, his daughter in law, who loved George like a father. He was the doting grandfather of Heather and Peter Conkling, and Amanda and Brian Eisenbeis and great-grandfather to Jess Conkling.

George and his wife spent many summers with their grandchildren at their home in Hancock fishing and attending summer camps. On behalf of George, the entire family would like to give a special thank you to hospice, nursing staff, and all of the RiverMead community for their love and special care.

A private funeral service is planned.

Jellison Funeral Home of Peterborough is assisting with the arrangements.
