Gerard J. Goguen

Rindge man, 78, a veteran, actor and gardener

RINDGE — Gerard J. Goguen, 78, of 13 Country Meadows Drive, Rindge, and formerly of Fitchburg and Lunenburg, Mass., died Jan. 18, 2010, in Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Jaffrey.

He was born in Fitchburg on Sept. 2, 1931, the son of the late Adelard and Beatrice (Landry) Goguen.

He moved to Canada in 1939, and graduated from high school there. In 1946, he moved back to this country. For the last 27 years, he had lived in Rindge.

Gerard worked 42 years at Fitchburg Paper Company until his retirement. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. He enjoyed hockey, baseball and gardening. He acted many years at the Stratton Playhouse in Fitchburg.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Jacqueline A. (Lorette) Goguen and three children, Renee Blanchette and her husband, Richard, of New Ipswich, Richard Goguen of Beverly, Mass., and Michelle Goguen of New York City.

Memorial services will be at a later date. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon, Mass.
