WILTON — Isaac Kenton Blanchard, 92, of Wilton died April 16, 2010, at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.
Isaac was born on Oct. 17, 1917, in Boston, Mass,, the son of Isaac H. and Myra A. (Grant) Blanchard.
Isaac was a lifelong resident of Wilton and went to elementary school in a one-room schoolhouse in Wilton Center.
Isaac spent time traveling with his mother and was educated in private schools. He attended Friends Academy in Long Island, N.Y., and Edgewood High school in Greenwich, Conn. Isaac held a degree in mechanical engineering from Wentworth Institute in Cambridge, Mass.
Shortly after graduation, Isaac joined the U.S. Army Air Corps where he served with the 1955th Ordnance Corps as a private. His tour of duty was in the South Pacific during World War II.
After the war, Isaac returned to Wilton and married Winifred (Dupell) on July 13, 1946. They spent 63 years together surrounded by their loving family.
Isaac was the owner of Blanchard Auto Salvage in Wilton for many years.
He was a very kind and generous man always willing to help others. Isaac loved cars and trucks. He was also a very good musician and enjoyed playing the guitar and singing with family and friends at many music parties. He taught all of his children to play the guitar. Isaac had a strong love for his family. He also had many dear friends and a great sense of humor and had a big heart for all animals.
Isaac was a member of the Milford Veterans of Foreign Wars, Lions Club and the Wilton American Legion Post. Isaac was a member of the Wilton Unitarian Congregational Society. He will be missed.
Isaac is survived by two sons; Stephen and his wife, Peggy Blanchard, of Wilton, and Scott Blanchard of Wilton; three daughters, Carolyn and her husband, Jim Quinn, of Temple, Wendy Blanchard of Wilton and Heidi and her husband, Clint Wilder, of Wilton; five grandchildren, Jennifer Blanchard, Chip Johnson, Coby Johnson, Amanda Blanchard and Cortney Johnson, and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to a memorial service to be held on Saturday, April 24, at the Unitarian Congregational Society, 597 Isaac Frye Hwy., Wilton. At 2 p.m., the Rev. Ken Clark will officiate.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
