Isabel F. Clukay

DUBLIN — Isabel F. “Diddie” Clukay, 92, of Brush Brook Road died May 19, 2010, at Genesis Elder Care in Keene.

She was born in Peterborough on Jan. 2, 1918, the daughter of Mary A. Bryer and Martin A. Hafeli. She lived in Dublin the past 71 years. She was a member of the Dublin Community Church.

She and her late husband owned and operated Clukay’s Garage, a Chevrolet dealership in Dublin as well as the Clukay Bus Company, a school bus and charter service, in the area for 30 years. Earlier, she was employed at Hafeli Fuel and Ice Company in Peterborough as a bookkeeper.

She enjoyed her family and grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold A. Clukay, in 1987, a granddaughter, Joanne Dyer, in 1978., and a brother, George P. Hafeli.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth B. Clukay of Keene, and his former wife, Linda Clukay of Peterborough; three daughters, Carolyn White and her husband, Russ, of Holly Hill, Fla., Rosamond Cady of Harrisville and Katherine Staples and her husband, Cles, of Dublin; four grandchildren, James Dyer of Milford, Christopher Staples and his companion, Melissa Hill, of Marlborough, Mitchell Cady and his wife, Jessica, of Hooksett and Margaret Cady of Mountain View, Calif.; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday at Dublin Community Church. The Rev. Michael Scott, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Dublin Cemetery.

The family suggests that gifts in her memory be made to the Dublin Public Library or to Dublin Community Church, Main Street, Dublin 03444.
