Jeffrey Scott Bemis

HARRISVILLE — Jeffrey Scott Bemis, 50, of Harrisville, died July 11 at 6:30 p.m. after a car accident on Route 136 in Peterborough.

He was born March 16, 1960, at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. Growing up in Greenfield, he attended the ConVal district schools. He then moved to New York, where he married Tammy Lindstrom.

Jeff was the proud father of Samantha Bemis, 23, of Clifton Park, N.Y. and Madison Bemis, 21 of Orlando, Fla. He was the loving son of Billiee (Bemis) Manchester of Keene.

Formerly the proud owner of BG Drilling and Geothermal LLC of Fitzwilliam and Water Tech of Waterford, N.Y., At the time of his death, Jeff was working with Gap Mt. Drilling in Fitzwilliam .

When he was not working he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He was an avid race fan and you could often find him at the Monadnock Speedway on Saturday nights rooting for the No. 33 “Monster Carlo,” of which he was the owner. In addition to racing, Jeff enjoyed snowmobiling with his daughter Maddy, whitewater rafting, zip lines, four wheeling, amusement parks, BBQing, sushi, traveling, “Star Trek” movies, practical jokes, Bruce Springsteen and Aerosmith concerts, the Caribbean, Christmas, and attending an occasional Red Sox game.

An avid Jets fan, he attended many Jets-Pats games at Gillette Stadium with family and friends, who were Pats fans, except for his daughter Sam, who shares his love for the Jets.

Jeff enjoyed life to the fullest. His laugh will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He was often heard saying “It certainly is just great to be alive.”

Calling hours will be today at 11 a.m. at Fletcher Funeral Home on 33 Marlboro St. in Keene. A service will follow at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home, with a graveside burial immediately following at the Monadnock View Cemetery in Keene.

Please join family and friends at the Bowling Acres Grill on Elm Street in Peterborough after all services for a celebration of Jeff’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Monadnock Kitty Rescue and Adoption, P.O. Box 468, Jaffrey 03452, of which Jeff, a lover of animals, was an enthusiastic supporter.
