Fitzwilliam man, 49, grew up in Greenville

FITZWILLIAM — Joseph Allen Dwyer, 49, of Old Turnpike Road, Fitzwilliam, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at the Leominster Hospital, Leominster, Mass., following a sudden illness.
He was born March 18, 1960, in Fitchburg, Mass., son of Donald and Sylvia (Michelson) Dwyer.

His family moved to Greenville when he was 2 years old. He grew up in Greenville and attended Mascenic High School in New Ipswich. In his younger years, he was a member of the Federated Church in Greenville.

He worked as a mechanic, having worked part-time at Wheels in Motion in Winchendon, Mass., just to mention one of his many places of employment.

He called Fitzwilliam home, but because of his love of travel he has lived in Florida, Maine, Nevada, California, Texas and Massachusetts.

He found enjoyment in metal detecting, gold panning, ATVs, motorcycles, snowmobiling, inventing, electronics, cars, engineering and mechanics.

Surviving family members include his mother, Sylvia Baker and stepfather Edward Baker of Palmyra, Maine; his daughter, Jolene C. Fraser of Pepperell, Mass.; his brother, Donald J. Dwyer of New Smyrna, Fla.; three sisters, Cathy C. Dwyer of Spencer, Mass., Susan L. Tremblay of St. Albans, Maine, and Beth A. Cormier of Monroe, Maine; his grandmother, Selma L. Wainio of Fitchburg; two grandchildren Lillian R. Fraser-Gray and Damien Saige Sheldon, both of Pepperell, Mass.; 18 nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; numerous cousins.

A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Tuesday, March 9, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River St. (Route 202 South), Jaffrey. Friends and family are encouraged to bring memories and stories to share.

Joe’s family has suggested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contribution be sent to Jolene Fraser at P.O. Box 560, Pepperell, MA 01463 or to Sylvia Baker, P.O. Box 206, Palmyra, ME 04965 in order to assist the family with funeral costs.

Following cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
