BANGOR, Maine — Marie-Rose Colburn, 83, passed away on Jan. 29, 2012, at Eastern Maine Medical Center, after a brief illness. She was lovingly surrounded by her family.
She was born in Allenstown to George and Lillie Mary (Baril) Lavertue on March 31, 1928 and had five brothers and two sisters.
Marie was a long time resident of New Ipswich and had relocated to Bangor in 2010.
She worked at Tricnit Hosiery Mill, the Red Brick Inn and retired from New England Business.
She also owned her own snack bar known as “Ma’s Place.” During her retirement years she enjoyed doing home health care.
She was an avid camper, where she often entertained family and enjoyed cooking, doing word search puzzles and crocheting. She was a long time member of Sacred Heart Parish of Greenville. She treasured her family and her collection of family photos.
Marie was predeceased by her husband of more than 50 years, Stanley Colburn. Together they raised six children. She is survived by her son, Clifton Pelissier and his wife, Debbie, of Jaffrey, daughter, Theresa Fogg and her husband, George (Red), of Rindge, son, George Pelissier and his wife, Bonnie, of Bangor, Maine, son, Edward Pelissier and his wife, Candi, of Merrimack, daughter, Brenda Gedenberg and her husband, James, of Williamsburg, Va. and a son, Eugene Colburn and his wife, Denise, of Vancouver, Wash. She was also blessed with 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
The family wants to extend their gratitude to all the nurses and doctors who so lovingly cared for Marie. A special, heart-felt, thank you goes to her nurses Melissa and Suzanne, and the palliative-care team at Eastern Maine Medical Center; Carolyn, Marie’s social worker at the Cancer Care of Maine, who provided much needed support during her cancer treatment and to Lynn and the volunteer drivers who provided transportation to her appointments regardless of weather or schedule changes.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Wilfred Deschamps on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Church, in Greenville. Following a reception in the church, burial will be in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at 3 p.m.
