RINDGE — Marilyn C. Metzger, 86, of Pine Eden Road, Rindge, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough, following a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 23, 1923, on Staten Island, N.Y., daughter of the late August and Elsie Frieda (Kashavsky) Palmer.
She was a resident of Rindge for the past 25 years and had previously lived in Huntington Station, N.Y.
She was married for 57 years to Quentin R. Curly Metzger. He died Oct. 1, 2006.
Her brother, William Palmer of Staten Island, N.Y., preceded her in death; she has a sister Shirley Elfers who resides on Staten Island.
She was loved and cared for the past three years by her daughter, Kim L. Smith and Kevin Singleton of Fitzwilliam; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law Kelly and Jeffrey Pujue; five great-grandchildren, Denzel, Jordan, Jason, Jada and Sierra of Peterborough. She is also survived by her son, Scott Metzger, and his wife, Diana, of Huntington, N.Y., and two grandchildren, Stacey and Renee, also of Huntington.
Marilyn was the beloved friend of Mildred Taylor of Lee, Mass.
Marilyn was a fun loving and witty person. She enjoyed watching nature and people. She also loved the outdoors and gardening and country drives.
Friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River St., Jaffrey on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Spring burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Troy.
