Marion D. Whipple

Greenfield resident, 76, worked at W.W. Cross

GREENFIELD — Marion Dorothy Whipple, 76, died after a brief illness at Monadnock Community Hospital on Feb. 21, 2010.

Mrs. Whipple was born in New York City on Jan. 30, 1934, the daughter of Dorothy (Gregory) and Emile LaFleur.

She grew up in Jaffrey and lived there for years, lived in Bennington for three years, and had lived in Greenfield for the last 10 years.

She worked at W.W. Cross as a machine operator for 27 years.

She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, knitting, crocheting and quilt making.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John E. Whipple; three daughters, Karen Hall of Greenfield, Dale Ann Moser of Washington, N.H.; Becky Thurston of Pittsfield, Maine; two sons, John E. Whipple Jr., of Antrim, and Guy Whipple of Hillsborough; two brothers, Emile LaFleur Jr., and Russsell LaFleur; five sisters, Jeannette Kear, Patricia Guptill, Rose Reed, Sandra Martin, and Debra Berberena; 14 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Antrim; the Rev. Peggy Boyce, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Warwick, Mass., at a later date.

Gifts in her memory may be sent to the Greenfield Fire and Rescue Squad or the Peterborough Ambulance Squad.
