Michael Joseph Leonardi

Meat cutter was veteran and longtime gardener

Michael Joseph Leonardi, 75, of Wilton, died Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, following a brief illness.

Mr. Leonardi was born June 30, 1936, in New York City to Isadoro and Angelina Leonardi. He married the late Diana (Fjeldheim) Leonardi and they settled in Holbrook, N.Y. A U.S. Army veteran of the Korean era, he became an established meat cutter and operated his own meat shop for many years in Sayville, N.Y. He and his wife were avid travelers, visiting many countries throughout his life, and he was always excited to tell the stories and show photos of their treks. A longtime gardener, Michael was quick to offer a bag of tomatoes.

Predeceased by his wife, Diana, Michael is survived by two sons and their wives, Eric and Sarah Leonardi of Greenfield, and Douglas and Camilla Leonardi of Wilton, several grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Leonardi asked for private arrangements and that any memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
