GREENFIELD — Richard “Dick” D. Kurman, 65, died on Jan. 24, 2012, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.
Mr. Kurman was born in Lynn, Mass., on Oct. 10, 1946, the son of Adelyn “Peggy” (Lanes) and Norman Kurman. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He found his calling as respiratory therapist and worked for over 30 years in community hospitals and in home care in Massachusetts. Dick loved helping others, especially his patients that were veterans. He resided in Greenfield for three years and had previously lived in Dracut, Mass.
He was an easygoing man with a great sense of humor. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved driving his yellow Mustang convertible.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Borelli-Kurman of Greenfield, one son, David and his wife, Sheila Kurman, of Piscataway, N.J., one stepson, Brandon Furr of Weare, two stepdaughters, Chantal Williams of Winston-Salem N.C., and Ashley Mantini of Greenfield, three grandchildren, Evan Williams, Patrick Kurman and Amelia Kurman, one sister, Sandra and her husband, Samuel Fish, of Westwood, Mass., one brother, Bruce Kurman and his wife, Gail, of Danvers, Mass., and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He is predeceased by his parents.
Visiting hours will be held at Jellison Funeral Home 25 Concord Street, Peterborough on Saturday from 4 to 6 p.m. Shiva Minyan will take place Sunday at the home of Sandra and Samuel Fish.
