NEW IPSWICH — Richard A. Kolapakka, 91, of Poor Farm Road died June 16, 2010, at Monadnock Community Hospital after a period of failing health.
He was born in New Ipswich on April 25, 1919, the son of Andrew A. and Liza (Lampi) Kolapakka. He was raised in New Ipswich, spent 26 years in Warren, R.I. and the past 17 years back in New Ipswich.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving from 1941 to 1945 in Rome-Arno, Rhineland, and Central Europe. He had worked many years as a construction worker, mainly on road construction.
He enjoyed traveling as well as his extended family and friends.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Senia Ranta, as well as his second wife, Beatrice Couria.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Springer of South Reading, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Hazel B. Harrigan of New Ipswich; three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Ashby Road, New Ipswich. The Rev. David Batchelder, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will take place in Smithville Cemetery.
