PETERBOROUGH — Robert John Campbell, 77, died May 19, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Campbell was born in Ottumwa, Iowa, on July 12, 1932. He was the son of Kenneth J. and Marjorie E. (Kegrice) Campbell. He had been a resident of Peterborough for 27 years.
He was educated in Iowa through junior college, and he attended the Naval Post Graduate School, Monterey, Calif., where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations in 1966.
In 1954 he married Donna Joan Hedges, daughter of George B. and Lois E. (Gilbert) Hedges of Merrick, Long Island, N.Y. She died in 2001.
Mr. Campbell served for 23 years as an aviator in the U.S. Navy, followed by 10 years in business and hospital administration. He retired in 1981.
He is survived by four sons, Robert Campbell of Lakewood, Colo., Kenneth Campbell of Concord, William Campbell of Winchester and Thomas Campbell of Marshfield, Mass.; one daughter, Stacy Elias of Walnut Creek, Calif.; one brother, Donald Campbell of Grand Lake, Colo.; one sister, Jo Rene Connor of Nora Springs, Iowa; 14 grandchildren.
A memorial celebration will be held in Winchester on Sunday, July 25 at 1 p.m. Call 924-6451 for information and directions. Interment will be done in private, at the National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass.
