LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. — Susan Margarette Bon died suddenly on July 30, 2010, at Albany Medical Center, Albany, N.Y. at the age of 59 after a life-long illness.
The daughter of Primus Benedict Bon and Margarette Long Bon, she was born in New York City, on July 15th, 1951. She was a long-time resident of Pepperell, Mass. and New Ipswich before moving to Loudonville to be close to her sister.
Sue was a talented artist with a degree from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Mass. She was a marvelous painter whose pictures hang throughout the U.S. and in places as far away as Switzerland and Australia.
A knowledgeable naturalist, avid gardener, experienced birder, passionate lover of animals, unabashed, committed liberal and conservationist with a lively intellect, she was a caring, person who loved her family and gave generously to family, friends and assorted waifs. She lived life with courage, honesty, determination and passion.
Sue was born with a severe congenital heart defect and lived close to suffering and death her whole life, but nonetheless she managed to live a full life.
No service or wake is planned but a concert and exhibition of her paintings to honor her memory will take place at some time in the future. When the leaves turn in the fall, we plan to spread her ashes on the land she lived on and loved in New Hampshire, on the hill which she left in trust as a “forever wild” property.
Our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Sloss, and the staff and doctors of the Boston Children’s Hospital, Boston, Mass., who cared for her throughout her life.
Contributions may be made in her memory to The Nature Conservancy, 4245 N. Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington, VA 22203, Whiskers Benevolent Society, P.O. Box 11190, Albany, NY 12211, The Adult Congenital Heart Service at Children’s Medical Hospital, 300 Longwood Ave., Boston, MA 02115, or the charity of your choice. No flowers please.
