GOFFSTOWN — Virginia (Ginny) Greene Hall, 89, of Goffstown, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, died peacefully on May 25, 2010, at Hillsborough County Nursing Home after a long battle with heart and Alzheimer’s disease.
She was born in Brockton, Mass., on Aug. 12, 1920, daughter of A. Sherman and L. Mae (Friend) Greene and was a 1938 graduate of Goffstown High School.
A resident of Goffstown for most of her life, she resided in Manchester, Conn., during World War II, where she was employed by Pratt and Whitney Aircraft.
Upon their return to Goffstown, she and her husband established Hall’s Clothing Store, which they owned and operated for 30 years, in Goffstown and Peterborough.
Mrs. Hall was a past member of the Goffstown Mother’s Club and the Derryfield Garden Club in Manchester. She also devoted much of her time in aiding her husband with the Goffstown Little League after its inception, as well as serving as a Cub Scout den mother.
A parishioner of the
Goffstown Congregational Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years, she was also a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of New Hampshire. She enjoyed various craft work, traveling, entertaining her family, and spending her summers at Popham Beach, Maine.
Mrs. Hall is survived by her three children, Donald S. Hall and his wife, June, of Moultonborough, Sheldon G. Hall and his wife, Stephanie, of Goffstown, and Bette Ann Hartzband, of Peterborough; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Jo-Anne M. Cobban, and her husband, James, of Keene.
Mrs. Hall was predeceased by her husband, Donald E. Hall, two sisters, Bernice G. Sias and Constance G. Worden and a niece, Candace W. Parker.
Services will be held at French and Rising Funeral Home, 17 South Mast St., Goffstown at noon today.
