Acrobatic circus on tap Saturday

Cirque Alfonse will present “Timber!,” a family circus inspired by logging at the Redfern Arts Center on Saturday at 2 p.m.

In their premiere American tour, this circus show features log-walking, spoon-clacking, hatchet-juggling, clog-dancing, and even hijinks on an outhouse. Aerial and circus acrobatics inspired by North American lumberjacks and logging is the theme for this show performed to the sounds of live Quebecois folk music.

Cirque Alfonse, established in 2005, is a young circus company from Saint-Alphonse-Rodriguez in the province of Quebec. Its founding members have all worked with some of the most renowned “nouveau cirque” companies around the world. The troupe is comprised of a team of professional acrobats graduated from the École nationale de cirque de Montréal, as well as a professional dancer, an ex-skiing champion, and three talented and versatile musicians.

A post-show meet and greet reception with the circus troupe will follow the performance.

The Redfern Arts Center is located on the Keene State College campus.

Tickets range from $40 to $25 and $5 for KSC students. To reserve tickets, call the box office at 358-2168 or order online at
