Owls and waterfowl sought this weekend
The Harris Center for Outdoor Education has two activities planned for the upcoming weekend.
A Young Birders Club Willard Pond Owl Prowl will be held on March 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. Naturalists and club leaders Henry Walters and Cynthia Nichols will lead participants in a search for owls at the Willard Pond Wildlife Sanctuary. After the prowl, everyone will gather inside the Willard Pond cottage, where there will be hot chocolate and a toasty fire. This event is open to all ages. Dress warmly and bring a flashlight. Meet in the parking lot at the end of Willard Pond Road.

The 31st annual Waterfowl Safari along the Connecticut River will be held March 23, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. There will be two groups: one heading north from Hinsdale and the other heading south from Charlestown. A variety of ducks and other species northward-bound in spring migration is likely to be seen. The two groups will meet at Herrick’s Cove in Vermont for lunch and sharing tales. Bring water, lunch and binoculars. Carpools return about 1 p.m.
