Choristers featured in televised WGBY program

The Grand Monadnock Youth Choir-Choristers are one of 39 groups chosen to participate in “Together in Song,” an annual televised series produced by WGBY, public television for western New England.

Hosted by Springfield Symphony Orchestra Music Director Kevin Rhodes, the series features performances by regional choral groups. Those performances are evaluated by a panel of judges and by viewers, with the top groups competing on stage, live at the WGBY studio, in the Together in Song Regional Choral Awards on Sunday, April 27.

More than 1,000 amateur local singers of all ages will be featured in the program.

The Grand Monadnock Youth Choir-Choristers, directed by Maria Belva, are one of 11 groups in the Elementary/Middle School category. There are 39 groups altogether in five categories.

Viewers are encouraged to visit the Together in Song website at togetherinsong.wgby.org to vote for their favorite groups. In addition to winners chosen in each category by the judges, the top two vote getters also will be invited to appear in the live awards show.

Ultimately one group will receive the unprecedented prize of a 30-minute special, produced by WGBY and airing on the public television station.
