String Quartet performs for benefit to fundraise for summer tuition assistance program
The Apple Hill String Quartet will present a special fundraising concert featuring a “Quartet of Sonatas” at the Redfern Arts Center on Brickyard Pond at Keene State College on Friday.
The concert, which will take place in the Alumni Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m., will benefit Apple Hill’s summer tuition assistance program.
The quartet will be joined by KSC faculty member, pianist Maura Glennon to perform the “E Major Violin and Keyboard Sonata” by J. S. Bach, “G Major Sonata for Violin and Piano” by Johannes Brahms, “Cello Sonata in C Major, Opus 102,” by Ludwig von Beethoven, and “Sonata for Viola and Piano” by Rebecca Clarke.
The Apple Hill String Quartet recently returned from a weeklong residency at Arizona State University in Tempe. The Quartet capped off its week with an open rehearsal and concert at the Gammage Theatre, designed by noted American architect Frank Lloyd Wright.
The Quartet ended the month of February with a residency at the Boston Conservatory where they performed and taught young music students.
Admission is $10 for the general public and $5 for KSC students, senior citizens, and youth ages 17 and under.
A special $50 patron level ticket also will be available. These tickets include limited preferred seating, an autographed copy of the program, and entry in a raffle for an Apple Hill summer concert subscription.
Tickets are available at the door, online at keene.edu/racbp, or by calling the box office at 358-2168.
