Garden Club holds plant sale

The Francestown Garden Club will be selling plants ‘you must have’ on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Village Green. They offer a wide variety of plants, mostly perennials, but also some shrubs and annuals, at about 50 percent of their retail value — over 1000 plants and over 100 varieties.

Most of the plant ‘owners’ — garden club members — will be there to discuss the pros and cons of their plants with prospective buyers and help them choose plants best for their garden.

Spring is the time when Francestown Garden Club members often make changes to their garden design and donate divisions of their perennials to the plant sale. The proceeds from the sale go towards a scholarship fund.

“It’s a great motivator to help get over 1000 plants looking beautiful,” said Elly Miles, this years chair. To date over $10,000 has been awarded over the eleven years since the scholarship began. Proceeds of the sale are also used to beautify town and public spaces like the garden on Main Street. And the club has received donations with a note ‘thanks for the beautiful plantings - keep up the good work!’

For more information about the sale you can contact the plant sale chair Elly Miles at 547-3515, or co-chair Kelly Marshall at 547-2160,
