Long Time Courting, a Boston-based, all-female Celtic roots quartet, will make their first appearance at the Nelson Town Hall on Friday at 8 p.m.

The band’s captivating blend draws from the deep well of traditional music, finding new ways of making jigs, reels, and old ballads accessible to the modern folk audience. The members of the group are all seasoned performers, having toured with such notable acts as The John Whelan Band, Childsplay, Robbie O’Connell, Aoife Clancy, Cathie Ryan, Solas, and Halali.

Guitarist Liz Simmons, who grew up in the Monadnock region, is no stranger to the Nelson crowd, having appeared there numerous times with her band Annalivia.

The concert is sponsored by the Monadnock Folklore Society.

Tickets are $15 and $12 for seniors, youth and advanced sales. To reserve tickets, visit www.monadnockfolk.org or call 352-8616.
