Peterborough’s Monadnock Music to honor Bolle at gala

The Trustees of Monadnock Music will be honoring Founding Executive Director Jocelyn Faulkner Bolle at a festive spring gala on May 5 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the historic Putman Residence in Keene.

The renowned American tenor and Monadnock Music favorite Steven Tharp will perform. Champagne, hors d’oeuvres and desserts will be served.

Monadnock Music was founded in 1966 by Founding Artistic Director James Bolle and Founding Executive Director Jocelyn Bolle. Together, they established Monadnock Music as a music festival. Serving as executive director from 1966 through 2000, Bolle played a crucial role in the establishment and growth of the Festival.

“Jocelyn Bolle was a phenomenal leader, and an inspiration for all who have come after her,” states William J.H. Chapman, Monadnock Music’s current executive director. “Jocelyn helped put Monadnock Music on the map. She not only created the administrative infrastructure to successfully build and maintain a major music festival, but also motivated trustees, donors, and audience members to get involved and provide key financial and other support. She built a community around Monadnock Music. Jocelyn — and, of course, Jim — have left us a legacy that continues to enrich the lives of the people of New Hampshire and beyond to this day.”

Among Bolle’s many accomplishments is the formation of Lend an Ear!, Monadnock Music’s education program, bringing classical music to classrooms throughout the region.
