History of the Chinook on Tuesday
“Harnessing History: On the Trail of New Hampshire’s State Dog, the Chinook,” a program on how dog sledding developed in New Hampshire, will be presented at the Meeting House on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Bob Cottrell will explain how the Chinook played a major role in this story and how man and his relationship with dogs won out over machines on several famous polar expeditions. The history of Arthur Walden and his Chinooks, the state dog of New Hampshire, is included in the talk.
Cottrell will be accompanied by his own Chinook, Tug.
The Greenfield Historical Society has received a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council to present this program.
