Jazz orchestra  performs June 1

The Keene Jazz Orchestra’s spring concert will be held on June 1 at 8 p.m. in the Alumni Recital Hall at Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College.

Featured soloist will be New York City-based jazz harmonica and vibraphone player Hendrik Muerkens. Boston vocalist Amanda Carr, who sang with the Boston Pops at the Esplanade on the Fourth of July last year, also will be joining the orchestra.

The jazz orchestra will take a tour through classic American big band jazz including the music of Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Don Menza, Gordon Goodwin and Maria Schneider.

Michael Reilly’s painting exhibition titled “Portrait of Jazz” will be on display in the recital hall.

Tickets are $12 and $10 for students and seniors and are on sale at the Toadstool Bookshop and at the door.
