Male soprano opens Monadnock Music festival

Monadnock Music will open its 48th season Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Peterborough Town House.

Gil Rose will lead the Monadnock Festival Orchestra and soloist male soprano Michael Maniaci in an all-Mozart program highlighting operatic roles written specifically for the male soprano.

Maniaci is a specialist in this repertoire. His 2010 recording with Boston Baroque debuted at No. 13 on U.S. Billboard charts.

The program includes “Il tenero momento” and “A se a morir mi chiama” from “Lucio Silla,” “Parto ma tu ben mio” and “Deh per questo” from “Clemenza di Tito,” ballet music from “Idomeneo” and the Symphony No. 41, known as the Jupiter symphony.

Tickets are $32 for reserved, $27 for general admission and $10 for students. A $5 discount per ticket applies when ordered before July 13.
