Authors Robinson, Maynard  at the Toadstool on Saturday

Two authors will be at the Toadstool Bookshop to discuss and sign their new books, Saturday.

At 11 a.m., Roxana Robinson will be signing and discussing “Sparta,” her fourth novel. Conrad Farrell joined the Marines following graduation from college, drawn by the appeal of “semper fidelis.” Returning home unscathed after four years in Iraq, never having had psychological troubles, his life becomes increasing difficult to negotiate as a feeling of unsettling estrangement haunts him.

At 2 p.m., Joyce Maynard will talk about her novel, “After Her.” Opening in northern California in 1979, the novel is loosely based on the Trailside Killer case that terrorized the area in the late 1970s. The detective father of two young girls living at the edge of the mountain is put in charge of finding the murderer of the young women killed on the mountain trails. When Rachel, the older of the young daughters, sees her father’s life unraveling over the case she decides to use herself as bait to catch the killer. It’s a decision that changes the lives of everyone she loves.

Both events are free and open to the public.
