Belletetes to ‘Build It Forward’

JAFFREY — Celebrating 116 years, Belletetes will host its fourth “We Build It Forward” event by completing projects on private and public buildings in town to help give back to the community.

Belletetes is accepting applications for projects to be done on Sept. 20 in Jaffrey as part of the annual event, according to Sue Johnson, who works for Belletetes in both Jaffrey and the company’s Andover location.

For the past three years the project took place in the communities surrounding the company’s Andover store. This fall will mark the first year the event broadens to the communities surrounding the Jaffrey store.

Volunteers of all types are from the Jaffrey area are welcome to sign up to help, Johnson said. In the past, Belletetes employees, their friends and families, local contractors and other volunteers all helped finish the day’s projects.

The extent and number of projects, plus how many volunteers sign up, will determine how many projects the group will complete by the end of the day on Sept. 20.

By the end of July Johnson will have finalized the list of which projects will be completed.

“[Belletetes] will go out and look and see if they can do it in one day and if they can afford all materials,” Johnson said.

On past project days, Johnson said, the volunteers built wheelchair ramps, cleaned up yards, painted buildings, repaired roofs, repaired house siding and built a dugout for the Andover High School softball team.

Johnson said that so far she has put information on Facebook about accepting project applications and soon she will start putting advertisements out.

If someone has a project they would like to be completed or would like to volunteer, they can contact Johnson at sjohnson@belletetes.com.
