HCS appoints Sorenson new CEO
Cathy Sorenson, RN, BSN, has been named president and CEO of Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services. She succeeds Barbara Duckett, who retires in November after 13 years in the leadership position. Sorenson was appointed by the HCS Board of Directors following a national search.
Sorenson has been with HCS since 2010, as director of clinical services and most recently as chief clinical operating officer, overseeing all home care programs, hospice, palliative care and the Castle Center Life Enrichment Program.
Sorenson holds a Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore School of Nursing. She will complete her MBA in Health Administration from Franklin Pierce University in spring 2014. She holds a certificate in home care management from Suffolk University and is a Certified OASIS specialist. She is also a graduate of the Institute of Healthcare Improvement QI Scholars Program.
