On Friday, November 6th at 7pm the Mariposa will host Part 2 of the award winning film by John Thomas, ?A Kalahari Family.?Liz Thomas, John?s sister will be on hand to narrate and answer questions. Liz has known the Kalahari since the seventies, when as a teen she joined hercivil engineer father, her ballerina mother (who would become acelebrated anthropologist) and her brother on a life-changing expeditioninto southwest Africa's Kalahari Desert to live among the Ju/wasiBushmen. Her unique experience has led to the publishing of ?TheHarmless People?, ?Warrior Herdsmen? and most recently ?The Old Way?AStory of the First Peoples?Popcorn and cider with be served.

Artifacts and folk art from the vibrant indigenous cultures of North, Central and South America, among them the Inuit of northern Canada and Alaska, the Hopi of the southwestern US, the Mayan peoples of Guatemala and Mexico and the Quechua of the Andes, will be exhibited throughout the museum. Featured will be ceremonial objects, kachina dolls, textiles and clothing, musical instruments, ceramics and cradleboards loaned by local collectors and from the museum's permanent collection.
