Opera highlights on tap
A concert of original works by composer Elise Grant will be presented at the Hancock Meeting House on Sunday at 4 p.m.
The concert will feature a mix of seasoned regional musicians and young talent performing highlights from Grant’s opera “Sante et Proseperite” and new chamber pieces.
Grant’s portfolio includes music for puppets, plays, outdoor theatrical productions, chamber concerts and an opera involving more than 80 performers.
She was raised in Dublin and Stamford, Conn., and began her musical training at Mannes College of Music, then traveled to Paris to study for two years with renowned teacher Nadia Boulanger. She then went to Lille Conservatory, culminatiing in 1986 with “Le Prix de Composition” from the Geneva Conservatory.
Performers for Sunday’s concert include soprano Amy Knight, mezzo sopranos Amy St. Louis and Lauren Weiner, tenor Richard Simpson, Alison Hale, flute, James Sharrock, oboe, and Cheryl Sharrock, piano.
Tickets are $15 and are available for purchase at the door. Children are admitted free.
