Project Shakespeare plans summer plays

Project Shakespeare celebrates 20 years of presenting engaging and accessible Shakespearean productions for the entire family! This summer, Project Shakespeare presents three productions including a new program for elementary and middle school students. Performances will be running from July 24 through August 4 in various locations in Jaffrey, Rindge and Peterborough.

The 2014 Summer Season

∎ Project Shakespeare’s Mainstage Company: The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Deborah Shakespeare Thurber.

Shakespeare’s comedic battle of the sexes! Sweet Bianca can have her pick of suitors – but not until her elder sister, the acid-tongued, shrewish Kate, can be married off. Rising to the challenge is the gold-digger Petruchio, but can he match her jab for jab?

∎ New program — Project Shakespeare Too! As You Like It, directed by Angela Vroom.

Elementary and middle school students will present a 30-minute performance of As You Like It, one of Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies about flirtation, friendship and mistaken identity. Enter the Forest of Arden and discover if true love will ever find its way in the delightful madness of the Forest of Arden.

As You Like It and Shrew will be performed as a double-bill. Performance schedule is as follows:

∎ July 24, 6 p.m. Lucy Hurlin Theatre, ConVal High School, Peterborough
