United Church welcomes the Rev. Owen as interim pastor
The United Church of Jaffrey welcomed the Rev. Christopher Owen as their interim pastor on Feb. 9.
The Rev. Owen earned a BSFS from Georgetown University, a Master of Philosophy from the University of St. Andrews, and a Master of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School. He served as the Mason Congregational Church pastor for seven years, seven years as the minister to youth at the Amherst Congregational Church, and nine years as a high school English teacher. He was ordained at the Mason Congregational Church, UCC.
He lives in Wilton with his wife, two children, two dogs, and assorted farm animals.
Pastor Chris begins and ends his day with prayer as well as believing that prayer can be a part of all aspects of life — including athletics, playing with his children, writing a sermon, and milking his cow. He receives great joy in “helping people live into their own sense of calling in ministry” as well as guiding a church towards relevance in today’s larger society.
The United Church of Jaffrey is a justice-minded Christian community that believes “God is still speaking.”
