Local energy efforts are the way
To the editor:
I want to encourage responsible energy policy, which includes serious conservation-efficiency work and expansion of renewable generation locally. Bringing in Hydro Quebec’s power may let local utilities off the hook on requirements to generate green power locally. Do we wish to encourage the submersion of even greater area’s of Native American lands in Canada?
Power is lost when transported long distances. We can discuss, understand, and vote on local energy production so we do it right. Do we have to sacrifice our wildlands to new huge transmission corridors, to achieve the aims I outline? I don’t think we do. We have to face difficult local choices, but I encourage us to get to work.
