Apple Hill launches | Indiegogo campaign
The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music has just launched its first fundraising campaign utilizing the online website Indiegogo — a crowdfunding program used to raise money directly via online appeals.
Apple Hill’s goal is to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of producing the Apple Hill String Quartet’s first CD under the direction of Executive and Artistic Director Leonard Matczynski.
The recording Quartet features Elise Kuder and Sarah Kim, violins; Michael Kelley, viola; and Rupert Thompson, cellos performing: Franz Joseph Haydn’s “String Quartet in D Major” (Lark); Erwin Schulhoff: “Five Pieces for String Quartet”; and J.S. Bach: “Three Organ Preludes.”
Since its founding in 2007, the Quartet has earned praise around the world for its concerts, for presenting interpretive mastery of traditional repertoire, for world premieres and commissioned pieces.
Education is an integral part of Apple Hill’s mission. For three months in the summer, the Quartet comprises the core faculty for workshops and summer concerts held at its center.
During the regular concert season, the quartet conducts mini-residencies in embassies, communities, schools, and universities locally in the Monadnock region, nationally in major U.S. cities, and internationally in conjunction with Apple Hill’s Playing for Peace (TM) program.
The money raised in this campaign, which ends April 16, will cover the majority of the costs associated with the creation of a high quality CD — recording studio time, sound engineering, mixing, mastering, production and packaging.
