Children invited to perform in Shakespeare musical

PES puts musical spin on ‘Midsummer Night’s Dream’

Children in grades 1 through 8 are invited to register for a production of “Shakespeare’s Midsummer Dream.”

There will be one performance at Peterborough Elementary School on Monday, July 21, and two at Union Congregational Church on Saturday, July 26.

All children who register will be cast in the musical on a first-come, first-served basis. Only 50 cast members can participate. The children will be cast to appear in the show with Children’s Stage Adventures founders Lorrie and Rob Gray.

“Shakespeare’s Midsummer Dream” is a new musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” When four friends run away from their problems at home they end up in an even bigger mess in an enchanted forest, inhabited by fairies, sprites and magic flowers.

The madness gets even more mixed up when local workmen, practicing a play for the Duke’s wedding, stumble into the forest. Mistaken identity and mischievous practical jokes get mixed in. The end of the play is resolved when all four friends return home for the royal wedding of Duke Theseus and Hippolyta, an Amazon queen.

CSA is a nonprofit organization based in Sullivan, supported in part by charitable donations. The residency in Peterborough is made possible by the Hope for Gus Foundation.
