Fafard, Barrett, Haase compete at New Englands
Mascenic star breaks school record in 3200M; ConVal, Conant athletes have good showings
Local track standouts traveled to Bridgewater State University on Saturday to compete in the New England Track and Field championships.
Mascenic junior Tim Fafard was seeded 14th in the boys 3200. Fafard finished fifth overall after staying with the front group and then giving it his all with 500 meters left. Not only did Fafard finish well ahead of his seed, he broke the school record of 9:28 set by Jake Christiansen in 2007 by running 9:26. Fafard was the first New Hampshire finisher by eleven seconds.
ConVal sprinting ace Cory Barrett wrapped up his high school track career finishing 22nd overall in the 200 meter dash, running 22.95. Barrett, who has been hampered with injuries for the latter part of the season, was still able to qualify and be competitive with the best sprinters in New England.
Wrapping up the local representatives at the meet was junior thrower Justin Haase. Haase finished 23rd overall in the shot put, throwing 45 feet, 2.5 inches.
