Temple fire personnel gathered at the station Saturday night, hanging memorial bunting in honor of Lance Corporal Brandon Garabrant. Garabrant, the young U.S. Marine from Greenfield who was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan on Friday, was a member of the Temple Fire Department.

Fire Department Chaplin Olivia Holmes had high praise for Garabrant, reminiscing in front of the Temple fire station.

“He was the epitome of goodwill to all and service to all. Brandon lived his faith. He was a kid, but a leader of human kind.”

One of Garabrant’s best friends and fellow Temple fireman Bradley Desmarais remained strong during this trying time.

”Brandon was a really good kid. He had a big heart and loved being a part of the Fire Department and the Marines.”

Desmarais met Garabrant while they both attended ConVal High School; he remembers laughing with Garabrant in the cafeteria.

”We had great memories sitting around at lunch time laughing and joking. We always made each other laugh.”
