Delve into the world of chocolate

An exhibition entitled “World of Chocolate” will be opening at the Mariposa Museum on Saturday, July 5.

This exhibit will trace the trail of chocolate around the world. Discover chocolate’s origins in ancient Mexico, find out what role Caribbean sugar played in the birth of the American candy shop, and learn how chocolate evolved from a drink into the form we know and love.

As a special treat, there will be a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Roald Dahl’s classic “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” offered in partnership with the Roald Dahl Literary Estate. Visitors can create a chocolaty masterpiece in the Wonka Invention Room, develop a candy business at Imagination Station, and pick up a golden ticket for a chance to win a prize.

The exhibit will be open through Jan. 31. The museum’s summer hours are every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $4 for children.
