Andy’s Summer Playhouse season focuses on the ladies

WILTON — It’s the year of the girls at Andy’s Summer Playhouse.

The Wilton-based children’s theatre program has dedicated this year to bringing more exposure to its female contingent of child actors. Most of the plays on this year’s roster star female protagonists, and more of the plays are written or directed by women.

The current show, “The Strongest Girl in the World,” fills all three of those criteria.

Written by Jessica DiGiacinto and directed by Jenny Emerson Foreman, the show tells the story of little Clara, who always knew she wanted a life full of adventure, like the performers at the famous Coney Island freakshow. Despite everyone advising against it, Clara, the Strongest Girl in the World, sets out on a journey to realize her destiny.

“The Strongest Girl in the World” will be playing for two more nights before the close of the show: tonight, and Saturday. Both shows are at 7:30 at the Andy’s Playhouse Theater in Wilton. Tickets are available by calling 654-2613 or at the door.
