It’s time for action in our schools
To the editor:
In a recent issue of our New Hampshire state newspaper, it was reported that Mount Washington College has made the business decision to close two of its campuses because of declining enrollment. The closing of the two campuses, and the layoff of approximately 50 employees was based on sound business practices. What a concept.
Declining enrollment is a problem with both private and public educational institutions. It’s time for the ConVal School system to make some uncomfortable decisions. It’s obvious that closing some schools and laying off teachers is not a popular subject but, whether the general public agrees or not, education is a business and needs to be run as such.
