Too much mystery in principal’s exit
To the editor:
I recently checked my property tax bill for my residence in Jaffrey. It appears that 48 percent of that revenue goes to the school district. I believe that this entitles me and the people of Jaffrey and Rindge to a complete and thorough explanation as to the dismissal of the high school principal.
I see in Tuesday’s Ledger-Transcript that he was given $5,000 to resign. Why is it necessary to pay him to resign? Why was he not dismissed on whatever grounds that brought about his dismissal? What were the circumstances surrounding that dismissal? Why should we the taxpayers have to pony up more money to make him leave? It is unconscionable that the administration has not been forthcoming with a complete explanation after all these months of investigation. We deserve that explanation, and I suggest that people complain vociferously to the town and the School Board until a satisfactory answer is forthcoming. After all, it is our hard-earned tax dollars that are footing the bill.
